Alt-Pop Rockers Vegas DeMilo To Perform at Easy Street; Easter Sunday March 31

By Glen Boyd

Alternative Pop band Vegas DeMilo will be performing an acoustic set in support of their just released 4th album Black Sheep Lodge at Easy Street Records in the West Seattle Junction on Easter Sunday March 31 from 5-6 pm.

Described by the band themselves as a 12-song response to Liz Phair’s 1990s alt-rock classic Exile In Guyville (which was itself Phair’s own response to the Stones iconic 1972 album Exile On Main Street), the new album crackles with a self-infused energy that conjures both the power-pop of bands like the Raspberries and Badfinger and the alt-rock of 1990s bands like the Smithereens and Gin Blossoms. On songs like “Charlie Watts” and “Imaginary Blondes,” the band takes on the clueless personas of the various exes and boyfriends that Phair once railed against with such righteous indignation on Guyville.

Dropping the Needle: Shaping culture by manipulating the Billboard charts

The Billboard charts are broken, they’ve been hijacked by a media conglomerate

By Matt Vaughan Easy Street Records - Seattle

The Billboard charts are broken. They’ve been hijacked. The Top 200 is no longer viable.

The Nielsen Soundscan rating and tracking system was adopted in 1991. It was the most accurate system the record industry had ever used. So how did the charts get dirty again? In the last couple years, a NASCAR fortune-fueled entity called The Penske Media Group has purchased Soundscan and has since rebranded it under the name Luminate. They also purchased legendary chart-publishing company Billboard. So, Penske now owns the data supplier while also owning the publication that distributes the data, effectively owning the music charts.

SDOT: Alki Point Healthy Street Update

Information from Seattle Department of Transportation

Since 2021, we have been evaluating and updating Healthy Streets across the city based on the trends we’ve seen in terms of community use and public feedback.

We are excited to announce that construction of this Healthy Street in West Seattle will begin this Spring! Over two years of outreach and engagement have resulted in a final design that includes many elements requested by the community—including additional walking space and ensuring ADA access.

Alki Point is a regional destination park and marine reserve habitat, as well as a destination for many popular outdoor activities like kayaking and paddle boarding, whale watching, exploring the low tides, and taking in views of the sunset and mountain range.
