Ballard printmaker Nancy Reithaar has an exhibit up at BallardWorks for November, which she says is a celebration of her decade with the Ballard ArtWalk. The ArtWalk takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8.

FRIDAY, NOV. 8

Rope

What: Two Gatsby-era ivy-leaguers decide to murder a friend of theirs, just to prove they can get away with it. They put the body into a trunk, and proceed to serve dinner off of the trunk, at a party consisting of the victim’s friends and family. Tensions are high as the boys wonder if they’ll be discovered. The play is loosely based on the Leopold and Loeb murder case of 1924.

KRAM’S BINGOmatic Improv Machine

What: The show takes 16 short improve scenes and puts them against the backdrop of a twisted bingo game. The audience controls the order of the show and prizes are won by a lucky few. Each show is a completely fresh non-stop evening of improvisational scene- and game-based comedy, driven by the suggestions of our all-powerful audience. $10

Ballard ArtWalk

What: It's second Saturday, which means Ballard ArtWalk! During the Art Walk, artists open their studios to the public and neighborhood businesses host local art on their wall. The Ballard Art Walk showcases painting, glass art, sculpture, performance, and more, in venues from Leary Way to Shilshole, and as far north as 65th.

The Ballard Senior Center will host a fundraising event, Wine, Chocolate and Art, Thursday, Oct. 8 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

The Ballard Senior Center is hosting a fundraising event this Thursday, Oct. 8 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. called Wine, Chocolate and Art, although the title order varies depending on personal preference.

Tickets are $20.00 available in advance and in person at the center, which is locates at 5429 32nd Ave. N.W.

The center (profiled more fully in this week’s At Large in Ballard) funds 72 percent of its operating costs through fundraisers, such as annual concerts and rummage sales.

This year, instead of trying to fill a venue like Benaroya Hall, they’re converting their own space into an art gallery for the evening along with wine tasting and Theo chocolate sampling.

Sommelier Buddy Dunn is pairing wines with Theo chocolates. The works of six local artists will be on display and available for sale for just the one night.

Local artists, including four from Ballard itself, will be displaying a range of works from jewelry and art boxes through watercolors and oils. Charlotte Haugen and Rosemary Antel have studies at BallardWorks. Susan Schneider teaches art at the Senior Center and offers weekly classes at the Farmer’s Market.

Ballard artist Matt Bazemore is known for his work depicting local haunts. All of the tickets sales benefit the senior center along with a portion of any sale proceeds.
