What: When do hilarity, torture, and enlightenment go together? When comic actor and award-winning playwright Donna Rae Davidson attends a ten-day silent meditation retreat (Vipassana), that’s exactly what happens! The result is 10 Days to Happiness, a zany, introspective comedy about discovering peace in the midst of internal conflict and angst.

East Ballard Community Association Adopt-A-Street Cleanup

What: EBCA's twice yearly cleanup event on 14th Ave NW. We'll be picking up trash and taking care of the planters in the medians. This will be a rain or shine event, so come dressed for the weather! Food and drink donated by the Ballard Market will be on hand!

What: Celebrate 107 years of bazaars at the Leif Erikson Lodge. This two day event features Nordic food, handicrafts, several raffles (including a trip on Icelandair), gorgeous gift baskets, and hourly silent auctions. Selected vendors will have items from the Nordic countries including sterling, woven rugs, hand knit sweaters, hats and gloves, and naturally dyed local yarn.

Crown Hill's ARC Dance returns to the Seattle Center for its third season of Summer Dance at the Center, a mixed-rep program, July 15 to July 17.

ARC Dance, which is based out of the Crown Hill Center, presents five world premiers by choreographers Penny Hutchinson (Mark Morris Dance Group), Marie Chong (Artistic Director), Betsy Cooper (ARC Resident Choreographer), Jason Ohlberg (Hubbard Street Dance Chicago) and Kiyon Gaines (PNB) in a July 15-17 program at the Bagley Wright/Leo K. Theatre.

The annual summer performances are a wonderful opportunity for locals and tourists alike to see that Seattle has a vital dance community operating all year long, Artistic Director Marie Chong said in a press release.

A King County 4Culture grant helps ARC give back to the community during difficult economic conditions by partially covering the cost of half-priced tickets offered to students and seniors.

"We are thankful to 4Culture for their help in making high-quality dance performances more accessible to some of the most adversely affected segments of the community right now: families with children, students and seniors," ARC board member Kirk Midtskog said in the press release.
