Officers arrived at a store and witnesses pointed out the suspect walking away. Officers apprehended the suspect and asked him to sit on the bumper of the patrol car. The suspect was uncooperative and had the aroma of an ”intoxicant.” Witnesses told officers that the suspect was a known shoplifter and degenerate, and that when he came into the store that day they asked him to leave. He grew angry with the staff and yelled slurs and spat in their direction. The suspect threatened to “beat the crap out of" the staff. He then tried to push a shopping cart at the staff. That’s when the complainants called police. The suspect was arrested, read Miranda Rights and placed in a patrol vehicle. From the back seat the suspect yelled, “[Expletive] you!” toward officers.

Construction guise goosed a metal thief

May 4 – Officers responded to a burglary/non-forced entry at a construction site at the 6400 block of 24th Avenue Northwest. The complainant told officers that when he arrived at the site he found the chain link fence had been opened and that there was a man wearing a white construction hat and an orange vest out “working” on the site. The complainant was suspicious because there were no contractors scheduled to be there that day. He asked the suspect what company he worked for and the suspect said the “steel guy.” The complainant asked what the name of the company was and the suspect said that the name was on the truck parked on the street. At this point the suspect started walking away and climbed up and over the fence farthest from the complainant. He followed the suspect and called 911. On the phone the dispatcher told the complainant to stop following the man, and so he waited at the site until officers arrived. The vehicle parked at the site was a gray 90’s Toyota Four Runner with a trailer attached. Police discovered construction equipment and copper wiring from the site in the trailer. The truck’s plate revealed the suspect had been involved in another incident at a construction site in April.

Dreamer awakes to wrench to face

May 8 -- Officer responded to an aggravated assault report at the intersection of 22nd Avenue Northwest and Norwest 57th Street. He went out and found a man he recognized who seemed to be very intoxicated. The suspect told the victim that he was looking for someone. Without warning the suspect hit the victim across the face with an unknown object. The victim thought it looked like a wrench. The suspect fled before police arrived. Seattle Fire Department treated the victim at the scene.

Ballard Crime Watch.
