Re: White Supremacy and History
The words above the United States Holocaust Museum were written during the WWII era and are still worth reading and thinking about—see below.
First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—Because I was not a Jew.
We need to be mindful of history, lest we forget the lessons of hate, discrimination, and violence. As the tragedy of Charlotsville recedes and life goes on, we need to remember to speak out such that new peoples are not added to this list: African Americans, immigrants, LGBTQ, Mexicans, Muslims, Native Americans, women, and others. We are one species with lots of variations in size; shape; orientation; weight, skin, eye, and hair color; personalities, interests, skills, and so on. One species; “all men are created equal.”
