Area wrestlers, swimmers place at state

Area athletes left their mark on this past weekend's state wrestling and swimming meets, although no one placed higher than fourth.
Kayla Rogers of Ballard led the field, taking fourth place in the girls 100-pound wrestling class.
She battled her way into the third place match and came up just short on the scoreboard, 8-6.
Also finding their way onto the awards stand in wrestling were Myles Gionet of West Seattle and Jahvius Levi of Kennedy Catholic.
Gionet snagged sixth place in the 182-pound competition for Class 3A. He wrestled for fifth place and lost, 11-6.
Levi placed seventh in the 4A 220-pound competition. He won his match for seventh and eighth, 4-0.
Mount Rainier diver Brett Jenkins led the locals in state swimming and diving action at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Jenkins racked up 415.75 points for fifth place, with Kennedy's Ryan Klem capturing 12th with 338.00.
JFK's Ben Kinerk took 11th place in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1 minute, 00.07 seconds and 15th in the 50 free in 22.34 seconds.
Mount Rainier placed 11th in the 200 free relay in 1:30.20 with Kennedy 13th in 1:30.59.
JFK was also 12th in the opening 200 medley relay with a 1:39.99 clocking.
Tate Ingraham of West Seattle took 13th in the 3A 100 free in 48.51.
Taking 13th in 4A competition was Mount Rainier's Nathan Weller in the 100 butterfly in 53.11.
