Denman Smith

Denny Smith loved being around friends and family. Denman Smith went home to the Lord on February 18, 2021. Denny was born on June 24, 1931 to Otto and Frances Smith. He was the youngest of 5 children.

During the Korean Conflict he was stationed in Newfoundland, CA as a Chaplain’s Assistant. When he completed his service, he attended Northwest College in Powell, WY and the University of Wyoming in Laramie, WY. (Go Cowboys!)  He graduated with an Education Degree. In 1956 he started a new adventure when he married Janet Royer. They enjoyed 63-1/2 years of marriage prior to her death in March 2020. In 1968 he obtained his Elementary Counseling Certification from Central University. Summers were spent in Yellowstone as a Summer Seasonal Ranger.  He enjoyed time spent with friends and family and other Rangers during cookouts. He played volleyball and softball. He got a kick out of meeting all the tourists.

When he retired from Elementary School Counseling in the Highline School District, he and Janet traveled the world. Denny enjoyed playing bridge, watching the Mariners, Seahawks, and the Huskies. He enjoyed making cards for family and friends. Denny is predeceased by his parents and 4 siblings Dorothy (Orville) Cline; Galen (Jeanette) Smith; Betty (Jack) Rockhold; and Clifton Smith.  He is survived by his children Kurt (Peggy) Smith; Kathryn Smith; granddaughter Kelsey (Austin) Smith Smith.  This summer, in remembrance of Denny, have an ear of sweet corn!
