Get ready to get dirty for a good cause! On Saturday, June 6, 2026, the Walt Hundley Playfield in West Seattle will transform into a "ninja" playground for the annual Loop the 'Lupe!. As the only obstacle course race within Seattle city limits, this event offers a unique blend of high-intensity athletics and community-focused fundraising.
The "Loop" itself is a 1K course circling the playfield. Depending on the event, participants will tackle various challenges, including tires, walls, and mud pits. Whether you are an elite athlete or a family looking for a fun weekend activity, there is a way for everyone to participate.
Choose Your Challenge
Loop the 'Lupe offers several levels of participation to ensure that "mini-ninja warriors" and seasoned racers alike can join the fun:
Elite Wave: Loop the Lupe Obstacle Course 5K: Designed for hardcore racers ages 16 and up, this wave features 45 obstacles (9 per loop). Be prepared to move fast; the two extra obstacles in this wave shut down 40 minutes after the start.
Family Wave: Loop The Lupe Obstacle Course 5K: Perfect for all ages and skill levels, this version offers a 35-obstacle course (7 per loop) without the high-pressure stakes of the elite wave.
Loop the 'Lupe 5K Fun Run: For those who prefer a traditional race, this option covers the 5K distance without any obstacles.
Silver Saunter: A 100% flat walk with no obstacles, specifically designed for seniors who want to support the cause and stay active.
Youth Dash: Aimed at children ages 1 to 8, this event consists of one 1K loop featuring 7 obstacles under adult supervision.
Racing for a Greater Purpose
While the mud and obstacles are the main draw, the heart of the event is its mission. All proceeds from the race support the social outreach programs of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. These vital funds help provide food, rent assistance, and re-entry programs for thousands of people in the local West Seattle community. The event even supports a safe parking program for the homeless and aid for migrant workers.
Participants are encouraged to become fundraisers; those who raise $100 or more can receive a free entry. Additionally, teams of four or more receive automatic discounts during registration.
More Than Just a Race
The excitement doesn't end at the finish line. All finishers receive a custom medal featuring a rotating foot logo and a "mud-spattered" ribbon.
All finshers get this medal.
After rinsing off in the on-site showers, participants can head to the after-party for live music from the School of Rock West Seattle, food, and a beer and cider garden. There is even a soccer penalty kick showdown for those who still have energy to burn.
For those who can't make it to Walt Hundley Playfield, a virtual option is available. Virtual participants can complete their own course anywhere and submit photos or videos for a chance to win prizes.
Pro Tip: Sign up before March 20, 2026, to lock in the lowest registration prices, and make sure to register by May 15 to guarantee your tech race t-shirt size.
