Building on the momentum of last autumn’s inaugural event in West Seattle, the White Center community is preparing for a "unique weekend pairing" of events designed to "spark civic engagement and deepen local belonging". Scheduled for May 15 and 16, 2026, at Evergreen High School, these back-to-back gatherings invite residents to gather, connect, and "find their people or their purpose".
The weekend is co-sponsored by White Center Solidarity (the Neighbor Union), the West Seattle Timebank, and the White Center Community Development Association (CDA). It serves as a continuation of a "new civic tradition" established on November 8, 2025, when the first Jamboree drew 62 groups to West Seattle to act as a "civic-engagement accelerator".

Friday, May 15: Film Screening and Discussion The weekend begins Friday evening with a thought-provoking screening of the documentary “Join or Die”. The film explores why participation in clubs and civic groups is critical for both individual health and the health of a thriving democracy. Doors open at 6:30 PM, with the film beginning at 7:00 PM, followed by an audience discussion about strengthening the White Center neighborhood.
Saturday, May 16: The White Center Joiner Jamboree On Saturday, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the community will host the second Joiner Jamboree, a vibrant community fair. The event is designed to help residents “plug back in” to community life following the social disconnection of the pandemic. Attendees can meet with over 40 local groups ranging from social clubs and creative collectives to service organizations and mutual aid initiatives.
The Jamboree follows the blueprint of the first event by prioritizing deep engagement over passive attendance. Residents are encouraged to explore local involvement, meet new friends, and rediscover the power of "joining in" to make a difference locally. Both the film screening and the community fair are free to the public.
