Burien man who confronted "Reject R-74" campaigner arrested for harassment
King County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a man in connection with a Malicious Harassment case that occurred Sunday, Oct. 14, in Burien when he allegedly tore a “Reject R-74” (referendum on same-sex marriage) sign off of a woman’s car and shoved another woman when she stepped in to help.
Detectives arrested the 23-year-old Burien man at a house in the 900 block of 164 St. SE in Snohomish County just after 10 a.m. Oct.17. The man was booked in the King County Jail for Investigation of Malicious Harassment.
According to the group, Preserve Marriage Washington, which rejects same-sex marriage, the victim, Arlene Mark, 61, was sitting in a Subaru Legacy as she waited to hand out campaign literature to other volunteers at a Safeway in Burien. A man approached her vehicle and tore off a Reject R-74 campaign poster taped to the side of her car and stomped on it. Mark claims the man screamed at her and shouted "vulgar profanities."
Burien boy's bathroom attacker pleads not guilty
Andrew Dempsey, 32, the homeless man accused of attacking an 11-year-old boy in the restroom of a Burien Albertson's on Sept. 29 pleaded not guilty Oct. 15, to an attempted rape charge. Bail remains at $1 million for Dempsey until his next court appearance in King County Superior Court in Kent. He was charged with Attempted Rape in the Second Degree, as well as violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
Kozma caught, arrested at Denny's in SeaTac
Emanuel Kozma, 30, was arrested Oct. 15, around 6:30 p.m., in the Denny’s parking lot at South 170th and International Boulevard in SeaTac. He was the subject that King County Sheriff detectives said they chased on Oct. 10 in the White Center area. Detectives said he will be booked for investigation of Eluding, Assault 1, and Unlawful Possession of Firearm. Kozma, a potentially armed felon police were tracking in South Delridge Oct. 10 had just gotten out of jail hours before the chase with police began. Kozma led police on a chase that originated at 7:30 p.m. near S.W. 108th St. and 15th Ave S.W. in White Center and threw a firearm out of the moving car at one point. Detectives lost the car near 17th Ave S.W. and S.W. Trenton St. in South Delridge and Seattle Police found the vehicle in a roll-over accident shortly thereafter. A 22-year-old female passenger in Kozma's vehicle was taken to Highline Hospital with minor injuries.
