Gandy gets off to a good start
Mount Rainier High School graduate Kiana Gandy has had a solid start to her redshirt freshman women's basketball season at Western Washington University.
Gandy scored 12 points and hauled down eight rebounds in a 93-89 loss to the University of Frazier Valley, then hit a game-high 15 points as the Vikings defeated Fresno-Pacific by a 75-46 score this past Friday.
Pitching camps offered
Young baseball pitchers ages 9-18 are being offered six camps of 22 dates each by the EnFuego Baseball Academy at the EnFuego Sports Indoor Facility located at 661 So. Orcas Street in Seattle.
The cost is $500 for the camps, with Camp 1 for ages 9-12 going from 4:30-5 p.m. each day, Camp 2 for ages 9-12 from 5:15-5:45 p.m., Camp 3 for ages 13-18 from 6-6:30 p.m., Camp 4 for ages 13-18 from 6:45-7:15 p.m., Camp 5 for ages 13-18 from 7:30-8 p.m. and Camp 6 for ages 13-18 from 8:15-8:45 p.m.
Dates for each camp are Nov. 17, 21 and 24; Dec. 5, 8, 12, 15 and 19; Jan. 9, 12, 16, 19, 23, 26 and 30; and Feb. 2, 6, 9, 13, 20, 23 and 27. The days are Thursdays and Sundays.
The camp will focus on the fundamentals of pitching -- balance, load, resistance, leverage, arm slot, creating direction, covering pitch locations, the mental approach to pitching and much more.
