Community members interested in attending are invited to the show and Admission is FREE. This year’s Talent Show is once again sponsored by the Teens and Staff of the White Center Teen Program. The WCTP offers free recreational, educational and social enrichment programming to over 1400 culturally diverse participants ages 12-19 each year. The program operates five days a week, forty-eight weeks a year and provides structured recreational classes and programs, homework assistance, educational and computer resources, leadership training, volunteer opportunities, special events, field trips, and drop-in activities. Now–end of March. The Maverick and Merrill Gardens at Burien are currently presenting the works of fabric artist Danny Mansmith and ceramic artist John Taylor. Danny Mansmith’s exhibit (above) is titled “Eight Doorways.” John Taylor’s exhibit (below) is titled “35 years of Art Making.” More information about the artists can be found at dannymansmith.com and www.jatceramics.com. The Burien Downtown Art Project is a collaboration of Burien Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Services and The Maverick and Merrill Gardens.

Every Tues., Wed. and Thurs., through April 19, 1:30–4:30 p.m. Community members can get their taxes done for free, thanks to a partnership between United Way of King County and Highline College. Households that make less than $66,000 are eligible, as long as tax returns do not involve business taxes, rental income or sale of property or stocks. Participants will need to bring all necessary ID, tax statements and bank information. If a participant is filing jointly with a spouse, both must be present to e-file. No appointment is necessary. Those who arrive first will be served first. Services are provided by IRS-certified volunteers. In addition to tax preparation, community members can sign up for health care and public benefits and access free credit reports.
