Officers talk down suicidal woman before she injured anyone
Detectives at the SW Precinct, 14905 6 AVE SW, were outside of the station in the back lot around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, when they heard a shot fired. Officers went to the front of the building and found a 56-year old woman lying on the ground outside. When they went to check on her, she got up and walked towards her car, which was parked nearby. Detectives detained her in handcuffs, before she got in her car. Inside, they found a loaded handgun. The woman said that she “wanted to die” and that her gun was loaded. She as transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. No one was injured.
Handgun found at hotel
A housekeeper at a hotel located in the 16500 block of International Blvd. S found a handgun sandwiched between two mattresses. She reported the matter to police around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10.
Fight at Transit Center
A fight broke out between two women who did not know each other at the Burien Transit Center, 14900 4 Ave SW, around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10.
Arrest for hit and run injury
Around 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, a man was arrested for investigation of a felony hit and run. He knowingly struck another vehicle in the 100 block of S 148th St and fled the scene. The suspect admitted to driving drunk. The victim was transported to Highline Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Elementary school burglarized
A burglar hit a portable classroom at an elementary school located in the 10800 block of 12 Ave SW, stealing 18 laptop computers. The thief left the stolen goods in nearby bushes, and they were recovered. The crime was reported to officers at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10.
Asleep at the wheel
A woman was arrested around 11 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, after she passed out while behind the wheel of her vehicle in the 15000 block of Ambaum Blvd S. Her keys were in the ignition, and the car was running.
Washing machine burglar
At 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 31, the owner of an apartment building, located in the 13800 block of 1 Ave S, called police to report a commercial burglary. The suspect tried to pry open the coin box in the laundry room in the basement of the building.
