Highline reaches soccer semifinals

BELLINGHAM--Highline slammed its way into the state Class 2A boys soccer semifinals by scoring a 1-0 victory over host Bellingham in a Saturday quarterfinal.
The Pirates will now sail into a 6 p.m. Friday match against Burlington-Edison at Sunset Chevrolet Stadium in Sumner.
South Puget Sound League rival Franklin Pierce plays Columbia River in the other semifinal at 8 p.m. Friday.
Friday's winners play for the championship at 8 p.m. Saturday on the same field and the losers play for third.
This past Saturday's quarterfinal took place at Bellingham's Civic Stadium.
