Jayden Fitzgerald finished with 32 points including 19 in the first half as Kennedy Catholic gunned down Gonzaga Prep, 65-52, in a state Class 4A girls basketball quarterfinal Thursday morning.
The Lancers return to the Tacoma Dome to take on No. 1-seeded AC Davis in a 3:45 p.m. Friday semifinal.
The team from Burien trailed Gonzaga Prep of Spokane by a 24-17 score at the end of the first quarter Thursday but bounced back to take a 37-32 lead by halftime.
It was up, 49-46, at the end of the third quarter before pulling away in the fourth.
Gabriela King of Kennedy Catholic grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and tossed in 12 points.
Kat Schroeder added 10 points and Paige Nadarski scored seven points and hauled down seven rebounds.
Fitzgerald added five rebounds and Izzy McDonough and Britain Brooks hit two points apiece.
Aylah Cornwall led Gonzaga Prep with 17 points and Charlee Peterson had 10 rebounds.
