The sisters behind White Center’s legendary Salvadorean Bakery & Restaurant are preparing to launch a new chapter in their culinary legacy. Ana Castro and Aminta Elgin, who have operated their landmark bakery since 1996, have announced the upcoming opening of Tías Café in Burien.
Located at 13409 Ambaum Blvd SW, Tías Café is described as a "next-generation" project for the sisters. While their original White Center location is a neighborhood institution known for Central and South American pastries, the new Burien concept will offer a broader experience, focusing on a community-centered atmosphere with expanded coffee and brunch programs.
A Modern Twist on a Classic Tradition
Fans of the sisters' original work can expect a menu that blends familiar favorites with new offerings. The café is slated to serve:
- Coffee and espresso drinks.
- Freshly baked goods, including cookies, cakes, and potentially the sisters' signature tres leches cake.
- Brunch items, featuring hearty sandwiches and specialized café plates.
The project aims to maintain the warm, welcoming vibe that has defined Castro and Elgin’s business for nearly three decades.
One of 2026’s Most Anticipated Openings
Though an official opening date has not yet been confirmed, Tías Café is already generating significant buzz. It has been named one of the most anticipated Seattle-area openings of 2026. The team has been active on social media, teasing that the new space is "coming soon" as they prepare to welcome the Burien community.
For a duo that has built a reputation on holiday specialties and traditional pastries over the last 30 years, Tías Café represents their first major expansion and a fresh commitment to the local food scene.
