Knock knock no joke

Officers were called to a High Point area residence after a woman got no response from her mother and could not open the door. Officers found that the door would open about an inch but no farther. They beat on the door and yelled "Seattle Police," repeatedly, with no result. The Fire Department arrived to assist with entry, and when they broke the door down five minutes later, they found the 97-year-old resident sitting calmly on the sofa, asking, "What's wrong?" It turns out she had barricaded the door with a coffee table for her own safety after she had heard someone try to come in.
Christmas won't be as merry as it might have been for some local residents. Unknown persons stole 1,000 pounds of donated food and two large bags of donated clothing from the Providence Regina House van while it was parked in the 8200 block of 10th S.
After a car was pulled over near 15th and Henderson, the passenger was seen trying to hide narcotics. He refused officer orders to keep his hands visible and began waving them wildly in the air. He then reached across toward the driver, turned on the ignition and shifted into drive, forcing the officer to jump out of the car's path. (It came within inches of hitting him.) A narcotics dog sniffed out rock cocaine in the car and also gave a positive hit on the driver's purse. Inside was over $500. A strip search found 22.1 grams of flake cocaine, 9.7 grams of rock cocaine, and 1.4 grams of ecstacy. The female driver was booked into King County Jail for investigation of drug violations. The male passenger was booked for investigation of assault, drug charges, and on a Seattle Police Department no-bail warrant for dangerous drugs and a $5,000 King County misdemeanor assault warrant.
Parents of a 1-year-old child began arguing early Sunday. She (intoxicated and slurry) told officers that he struck her and accused her of messing with his friend. He said that she accused him of having another girlfriend, began screaming, blocked the door, and refused to let him leave. He says there was nothing physical, and that he finally got away by crawling out a basement window. Though she had no physical marks, had trouble with details, and didn't want to provide a written statement, the man was nonetheless booked into King County Jail, as he was wanted on a previous domestic violence assault warrant.
A man who has psychotic episodes and believes others (including the Mafia and employees of a local business) are out to "get him," was coaxed into handing over weapons by officers Monday morning. His family and mental health professionals had requested police assistance because of the man's deteriorating condition and because of their concern for anyone who might innocently come onto his property. Officers confiscated a stun gun, a loaded pistol (on the kitchen counter), and a loaded shotgun (and shells). The man was transported to Harborview for a mental evaluation.
There was no Welcome Wagon for a couple who just moved into a home in Highland Park. While they were away for a couple of days, someone burglarized their home, stealing two laptop computers and other items. Total loss exceeds $5,000.
A woman was walking near Delridge and Barton when a man in a red two-door convertible pulled over. He reached through the driver's window, grabbed her arm, and repeated, "Do I know you?" several times while trying to pull her into the car. She got away and ran toward Westwood Village. The suspect is a white male in his 20s with a shaved head. The car had a black rack on the trunk.
Monday evening, as a young woman walked near the Alaska Junction, a car pulled up behind her. Two women, one Caucasian, one black, ran up from the rear, grabbed her purse and a shopping bag, and shoved her to the ground. She was not seriously hurt. The suspect's car contained other people. It was an older, white passenger car, possibly a Ford Taurus.
An Arbor Heights couple is in the process of breaking up. The man became angry and hit the woman three times while she was holding their child. During the assault, the baby rolled off her lap and onto the floor. The child wasn't injured, but the woman had visible bruises on her neck and under her chin and a lump on the side of her forehead. The man was booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault.
Two girls selling items door-to-door are suspected of robbing a teen of her cell phone in the 5600 block of 18th SW. The victim initially refused their demand to hand it over, but one suspect hit her in the stomach, the other in the head, and then grabbed the phone, running off toward South Seattle Community College. An area search was unsuccessful, and their manager has not returned calls to officers at the Southwest Precinct.
