(Editor's Note: Jerry Robinson found a couple of adventurous guys to write about this week.)
Meet Brian Thurston
This Burien man flew to Argentina with five friends where he went dove hunting. They shot 12,000 birds and gave them all to authorities who distributed them to hungry citizens.
There is not much meat in the breast of a dove but he says it is delicious grilled with special local spices.
Brian, who owns and operates several fishing and hunting magazines, was invited to the shoot by the government so he took a bunch of friends.
Doves in that country are so numerous they are considered a national pest and destroy millions of dollars in crops.
Everything was paid for by a farm organization except the shotgun shells, which were 11 bucks, a box of 25.
Yes, the sky was black with dipping, diving doves, but it took more than just pointing a gun straight up and pulling the trigger.
You had to lead and shoot, one bird at a time.
Vice President Dick Cheney was not included.
Meet Ethan Janson
Residents and visitors to the Three Tree Point area are regularly entranced by the sight of a kite surfer in the high winds off shore.
While there are a small number of others, it is most likely Ethan Janson doing twists and flips out there.
Ethan says when the wind is strong and the surf is up, it is not unusual to see a good kite surfer airborne doing twists in the air as high as 50 feet and come down still aboard.
He and his wife Denise live in the area and she is also an avid kite surfer. They have a 3-year-old daughter who is likely to take up the sport. They gave the youngster a regular paper kite to play with on the shore and she immediately ran out into the water with it.
Ethan is a dentist when he is not riding the waves.
