A former Des Moines police officer was arrested last week and accused of robbing a Shell gas station and demanding all the cash in the register.
Police said a surveillance camera caught the former officer in the act.
Des Moines police detectives reviewed the tape and identified their former co-worker and his vehicle. They said he had resigned from the force just 10 days earlier.
Kent police found and arrested the suspect, who was not immediately identified. They will conduct the criminal investigation.
The incident outraged some residents in Des Moines, who felt the former cop betrayed the public's trust.
"He's out there doing this stuff. It's not ok," said one local resident.
