A potential non-binding agreement that could settle the dispute over the Lora Lake Apartments was scheduled for discussion by the Burien City Council on Nov. 5.
The meeting came after this issue of the Times/News was printed. You can read the latest developments in this story at www.highlinetimes.com.
According to Monday night's council agenda, a compromise settlement would "provide a package of incentives beneficial to Burien in exchange for leaving the apartments in place."
Burien lawmakers voted on May 7 to reaffirm plans to tear down the 162 remaining units to clear the way for long-planned commercial development.
Those plans were put on hold in August when a lawsuit was filed to keep the apartments in place.
The Port of Seattle owns the property. The King County Housing Authority has managed Lora Lake as affordable housing.
