How good it is to be a part of y (our) community!
COMMUNITY SERVICE is required for students these days in order to graduate from high school. Our Communities are crying out for persons to continue to help promote our communities, to keep our areas clean, to help children, to help our elderly, to be good neighbors.
Did you know that there is a service organization, KIWANIS INTERNATIONAL, which is a GLOBAL ORGANIZATION of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time? One of our projects last year was to eradicate IDD (Iodine Deficiency Disorder) from the face of the earth.
Did you know that our Pacific Northwest District is the largest District in the world and reaches from Alaska, Yukon, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, northern Idaho and northern California? Our Division covers Renton, Kent, Auburn, Federal Way, and Des Moines. Yes, there is a Kiwanis Club in Highline/White Center/West Seattle. Our Division 32 worked together to help with the National Wheel Chair Basketball Tournament this spring in Renton.
Coming is FARMERS' MARKET in Des Moines at the south end of Des Moines Marina, which will begin Saturday, June 7 every Saturday through October. Kiwanis gets to have the coffee booth and we look forward to seeing you and our neighbors and friends each week. Come on down and enjoy y (our) city.
You are also welcome to join our regular Kiwanis meetings at 7:30am, Wednesday mornings at Tuscany's Des Moines Creek Restaurant and check out how we are involved locally. Hope to see you soon.
