Small Faces Child Development Center has been awarded the right to purchase the former school building they have used for the past several years.
The former Crown Hill Elementary School building was bought from the Seattle School District after it was declared as surplus property.
Built in 1919 and expanded in 1949, the building has been said to serve as an important community resource and has homed for the past three decades a nationally accredited childcare facility and most recently the ARC School of Ballet, several small arts non-profits, along with the Crown Hill Neighborhood Association and Crown Hill Business Association.
Finalizing a purchase price for the building and childcare playground at $1,003,000, the Seattle School Board voted unanimously for the purchase price of the property at last week's meeting.
On the same property, the Seattle Parks Department proposed a purchase price of $5,004,000 for the playground and playfield area, which was also approved and voted for purchase by the school board.
All parties are now in the process of signing a purchase and sale agreement to finalize the sales.
