John Wilson Finnie

Age, 92, died at home April 26, 2006 after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of West Seattle; attended Gatewood Elementary and West Seattle High School. During WWII he served in the local coast guard reserve. He worked at Westinghouse Electric Supply Co. until retirement and then enjoyed jobs with Avis, and Sunset West Condominiums. He loved golf, gardening, pinochle and for many years he umpired West Seattle softball.

Married to Virginia Ruth Bovier, who died in 1971, together they had two sons; Joe Finnie now lives in Anchorage with wife Corrine; Gerald Finnie now lives in Walla Walla, with his wife Rita. John is also survived by a grandson John Deskins, his wife Andrea and his great grandson Andrew all of Kennewick, Washington and brother-in-law Vernon Bovier of Mt. Vernon, sister-in-law Esther Burnett of Renton and numerous nieces and nephews in Washington and Texas. He will also be missed by the light of his life for the last fifteen years, Enda Grewell, and her family.

John was buried at the family plot in Lake View Cemetery by Volunteer Park on May 1st. The family wishes any remembrances be made to the American Cancer Society.
