Ruby passed away peacefully at the Knight Adult Family Home on Nov. 13, 2005. She was 85 years old.

Ruby was born in Epping, North Dakota, on July 18, 1920, to Jens and Ragnhilde Hovland. After high school graduation she left home to work for the Erickson family in Williston, N.D. She married Ernest Richard Dehnert on June 30, 1946. in Epping and shortly thereafter moved to West Seattle. Ruby and Ernie made their home in Burien, and were married for 59 years.

Ruby loved spending time with her family. Her sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the center of her life, and she never ceased praying for each one. She and Ernie enjoyed attending church, gardening, walking, and going for drives.

Ruby is survived by her “best friend,” Ernie, sons Philip (Paula), Paul (Mary), and Eldon (Stacy), grandchildren Sharon, Sarah, Lissy, Tim, Charissa and Geof, and great-grandchildren James, Collin, Wesley, Charlie, Payton, Josiah and Addison. In addition, she is survived by one sister, Jordis Flathers.

A joyous memorial celebration was held for Ruby on Nov. 18, 2005, at the Boulevard Park Place senior apartment complex where Ruby and Ernie lived.
