Long time resident of the Sea-Tac and Burien area, Harry C. Boucher, passed away in Vale, Oregon, Oct. 17, 2005. He was the first baby born Jan. 1, 1916, in Wood County, Wisconsin. He died from renal failure at age 89.

He moved to Washington in 1932, where he graduated from Olympia High School. He worked at the roller skating rink, where he met his wife, Valma Sanders. They were married in 1937. Harry was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in Burma.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather to their three children, Mike, Jim and Jeannie, five grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

He worked for Canteen Company for 35 years and never missed a day. (OK, maybe one). His many favorite hobbies were bowling, hunting and fishing, and he loved clam digging at Ocean Shores. He was an all-American guy who loved baseball, fried chicken and apple pie. While coaching baseball, Harry would take the team to Lou’s Hamburger in White Center and buy the team hamburgers and a shake if they won and a milkshake if the team lost.

He and his many jokes will be missed by his family. He is survived by his wife, Valma.
