Dorothy J. Bassett

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dorothy Bassett was held Feb. 6, 2006, at Bonney-Watson Parker Chapel in Burien.

Mrs. Bassett died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2006, in Vancouver, Wash. She would have been 81 years old last Wednesday.

She was born Feb. 1, 1925, in Chicago, and lived in Burien since 1946. She attended the University of Illinois. She worked as a dental assistant, and then later assisted her husband in his bookkeeping business. She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker.

Mrs. Bassett loved sewing, crafts, and reading. She especially enjoyed shopping and visiting with friends and family.

Her husband of 58 years, Samuel W. Bassett, preceded her in death in 2004.

She is survived by a son, Michael, of Federal Way, and daughters JoAnn Haberer of Vancouver and Patricia Saurdiff of Enumclaw. She has one grandson, Tommy Cook, of Vancouver.

She has requested that contributions be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
