Willa M. Schmeer

Willa M. Schmeer died in Milwaukie, Ore., Saturday, March 11, as a result of complications from a fall which occurred Feb. 15. She was 87.

Willa M. Thompson was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Hillsboro, Ore. She attended Roosevelt High School for two years before transferring to Commerce High School in Portland, graduating in 1938. She married Gordon R. Schmeer in Portland in 1941 and they had three children. In 1957 they moved to Normandy Park, where she worked in the home and raised her family. Her children attended Highline and Mt. Rainier high schools. Following her husband’s death in late 1998, she moved to Milwaukie, Ore., where much of her family lives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Wendy McDade Callahan, and a brother, Donald R. Thompson. She is survived by daughter Dale K. Cox of Seabeck, Wash., son Michael G. Schmeer of Milwaukie, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
