Evergreen Lutheran High School of Des Moines edged out Cedar Park Christian, 3-2, to open Tri-District action Thursday. The win sent the Eagles on to the Class 1B state tournament, which will be held Friday and Saturday at the Yakima Valley Sundome. Evergreen Lutheran opens with a 9 a.m. game against Three Rivers Christian.

The Lancers had a short stay at the Class 3A West Central District tournament held at Auburn Mountainview, but it could have been worse.
Kennedy won its opener against Wilson, but lost its next two matches to miss out on this weekend's state tournament in Lacey.

Cross country
State meet
Jordan McPhee of Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines scored the highest local finish at the state cross country meet held at the Sun Willows golf course in Pasco, taking second place in the girls Class 4A race in a time of 18 minutes, 10 seconds.
Girls soccer
SCS 1, King's 0
Seattle Christian beat King's, 1-0, in a game that went all the way to a shootout Saturday.
Erin Swain earned the shutout on goal and came through with 11 saves.
The Warriors go on to play Northwest at French Field in Kent in the first round of the Class 1A state tournament at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Gig Harbor d. Mount Rainier
The Gig Harbor Tides swept Mount Rainier out of the West Central District 4A tournament in action at Stadium High School in Tacoma this past Saturday.
Sumner d. Foster
Foster also just missed out on the state tournament, losing a 2A district game against Sumner at Franklin Pierce High School on Saturday.
