McPherson comes through for UW
Shayne McPherson fires off a low line shot on a serve, skimming the ball across the top of the net and dropping it into the court on the opposite side.
The ace literally made the highlight reel as the University of Washington volleyball team dealt California a 3-0 defeat Thursday.
Serves and digs are the specialties of McPherson, a true sophomore out of Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien who calls West Seattle home.
McPherson has 14 aces on the year including Thursday's shot and has amassed 257 digs.
McPherson's efforts have helped the Huskies to a 21-6 overall record to go with an 11-5 Pac-12 Conference mark.
Kelemete helps Saints to 6-2 start
Evergreen and UW graduate Senio Kelemete has helped the National Football League's New Orleans Saints to get off to a 6-2 start to their season, backing up at all five interior positions on the offensive line.
McPhee sinks 17 for SPU
Mount Rainier graduate Jordan McPhee swished in 17 points for the Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team in its opening 71-56 win over George Fox on Saturday, Nov. 4.
McPhee also hauled down three rebounds and added four assists and three steals.
Brittany buries 10 for Stanford
Mount Rainier graduate Brittany McPhee hit 10 points for Stanford University in its 60-46 victory over UC San Diego on Saturday, Nov. 4.
She also had two blocks and one steal for the Cardinal.
Giomi tosses in two at Oregon
West Seattle graduate Lydia Giomi hit two points and added two rebounds and one steal to help the University of Oregon women's basketball team to its 71-32 victory over Westmont on Sunday, Nov. 5.
Suzuki signs with Clemson
West Seattle resident Kenji Suzuki signed on to play baseball for Clemson University in South Carolina, even though he is only in his sophomore year at Eastside Catholic High School.
Brooks at Highline College
Tyee graduate Kenyara Brooks is now playing women's basketball at Highline College in Des Moines.
Brooks is a 5-foot, 9-inch freshman guard for the Thunderbirds.
Cox playing for Lady Lutes
Evergreen graduate Marleisha Cox is entering her sophomore season with the Pacific Lutheran University women's basketball team.
Cox is a 5-10 forward.
Vasquez plays at PLU
Mount Rainier graduate Vincent Vasquez is also at Pacific Lutheran University as a football player.
Vasquez stands at 5-10, 165 pounds as a sophomore wide receiver for the Lutes.
