Kennedy Catholic did not go down without a fight at the state Class 4A volleyball tournament, even though it only won one of three matches.
The Lancers opened the action at the Toyota Center in Kennewick with a 3-1 win over Eastlake before falling to Mead by the same score in the quarterfinals Friday.
They bowed out with a 3-2 loss to Tahoma on Saturday morning, falling just short of official placement.
Kennedy lost its first set in the opener by a 25-23 score before taking the next three, 25-9, 25-10, 25-11.
The Lancers beat a taller Mead team, 25-23, to open their next match before losing the next three, 25-15, 25-14, 27-25.
Against Tahoma, Kennedy took the first set, 25-15, and lost the next two, 25-21, 25-16.
The Lancers bounced back to win the fourth set, 30-28, before dropping the decisive fifth set, 15-9.
