By Gerardo Bowling CONTRIBUTING WRITER FEDERAL WAY - Todd Beamer took advantage of a very slow starting Kennedy Catholic storm by the Lancers 3-2 in NPSL 4A league girls bowling at Secoma Lanes on Tues., Dec. 17. ”Mara Davis was pretty much our key player,” said Lancer Head coach Steve Woodcock. “We always struggle against Todd Beamer. The other team had their highest score of the season.” In game one, the Titans gradually pulled away from the Lancers, who turned spare conversions into problematical challenges throughout. Todd Beamer racked up a 674-516 total pin advantage. Lorali Owens of TB bowled 181 to pace all athletes. Davis topped KC at 138. Kennedy Catholic bowled much better with two substitutions from the junior varsity in the second game until Todd Beamer pulled away to a 736-613 win. Owens again led Beamer with a 183 while Davis parlayed a turkey in frames six through eight for a 157. With losses in the first two games and an insurmountable total pins deficit, the Lancers set about claiming the Baker format games. Kennedy Catholic jumped ahead easily in the first Baker and led 74-58 after six frames en route to a 119-92 win. The second Baker showed Lancers Leading 61-51 after six frames but the Titans tied the score 77-77 through eight frames. A solid 1-3 pocket strike in the Kennedy Catholic ninth frame was just enough to hold Beamer 99-94. Davis spoke about her success. ”I was too focused on hitting my mark, the third arrow in, she said. "My body knows how I need to bowl. I focused less on hitting the spot and just bowled naturally.” Both teams are now 3-3 league and overall.
