Mount Rainier
The Rams earned their way to the state Class 4A tournament by posting a 3-1 record in District 3/4 action that took place this Friday and Saturday at various Bethel School District sites in the Graham area.
Mount Rainier entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed and claimed its state berth by knocking off No. 6 Graham-Kapowsin by a 3-2 score in a Saturday afternoon match.
State will take place next Friday and Saturday at the Yakima Valley Sun Dome.
The Rams opened district action by outlasting Sumner in a 3-2 match Friday afternoon before taking a 3-0 loss to No. 2 seeded Camas that evening.
Mount Rainier bounced back to beat No. 13 Union, 3-0, Saturday morning to earn the right to play Graham-Kapowsin for a trip to state.
Kennedy Catholic
Kennedy Catholic apparently left it all on the floor in taking a narrow 3-2 loss to No. 1 seeded Curtis at the District 3/4 tournament Friday night.
The No. 8 seeded Lancers came back to play No. 13 Union in a loser-out match the next morning and suffered a 3-0 setback.
Kennedy Catholic opened the tournament by cruising to a 3-0 victory over South Kitsap on Friday afternoon.

The Lancers' state playoff stay came to an end with a 34-7 loss at Graham-Kapowsin in Saturday evening Class 4A action.
Kennedy Catholic came into the postseason after going undefeated in North Puget Sound League divisional play and opened with a 30-0 win over Lake Washington last week.
The Lancers finished with an 8-3 overall record.
Girls swimming and diving
Class 1A/2A state
Foster finished 22nd in the 200-yard medley relay in state action that was hosted Friday and Saturday at the Weyerhauser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
Janae Allen, Ivy Glanville, Meghan Hays and Ella Alcaraz Paradez of the Bulldogs posted a time of 2 minutes, 40.49 seconds.
Evergreen's Vera Nofziger took 22nd in the 50 freestyle race in 27.27.
Places 1-8 make the state finals and 9-16 make the consolation finals to also score team points. Places 17 and higher do not score or go on beyond the Friday preliminary heats.
Class 3A state
Maddie Yovanovich of Ballard and Eden O'Donnell of West Seattle both made the finals in two events in the Saturday night portion of state girls swimming and diving action at the Aquatic Center.
Yovanovich finished fourth in the 100 backstroke in 57.46 and seventh in the 200 individual medley in 2:10.15.
O'Donnell delivered a fourth place finish in the 500 free in 5:08.90 and a seventh in the 200 free with a 1:56.78 effort.
Yovanovich also teamed up with Tess Keenan, Penelope Quist and Daisy Williams to take ninth place in the 200 medley relay in 1:56.02 and with Poliya Fong, Bailey Bargfrede and Keenan for 12th in the 400 free relay in 3:52.77.
Autumn Nguyen from Highline earned her way into the consolation finals of the 100 breaststroke, taking 12th place in 1:08.84.
