The past week in local high school sports was highlighted by several key matchups, most notably the crosstown rivalry between West Seattle and Chief Sealth. In baseball, West Seattle earned a 5-1 Metro League victory over the Seahawks on Friday for local bragging rights, though they also suffered a lopsided non-league loss to Issaquah and a close 5-4 defeat to Ingraham. The West Seattle fastpitch team was even more dominant, securing a 22-9 win over Chief Sealth on Thursday. Ballard baseball saw mixed results, bagging a 7-5 win against Blanchet while falling to Lincoln and Roosevelt in other contests. Other highlights included a decisive 18-4 fastpitch win for Highline over Vashon Island and a Monday baseball victory for Evergreen over Foster, though Evergreen struggled in subsequent games against Lindbergh.
