The recent rounds of Westside high school sports saw several dominant performances on the diamond, particularly in baseball where West Seattle and Mercer Island secured massive victories. West Seattle overwhelmed Rainier Beach with an 18-1 win, while Mercer Island handed Highline two lopsided losses of 10-1 and 19-1.

Other standout baseball performances included Lindbergh’s 18-2 defeat of Foster and Renton’s 16-2 win over Evergreen. Shutouts were also a theme, with Kennedy Catholic blanking Kentridge 7-0 and Ballard shuting out Cleveland 6-0.

The fastpitch softball scores featured some of the most extreme margins of the week. West Seattle delivered a staggering 27-0 shutout against Rainier Beach, and Foster achieved a similarly dominant 20-0 shutout over Mercer Island. In contrast to these one-sided affairs, Foster was also involved in a 16-15 "slugfest" loss to Lindbergh. Ballard’s offense was also in high gear, putting up 16 runs against West Seattle and 12 against Nathan Hale. Defensive highlights included a narrow 1-0 shutout win for Chief Sealth over Franklin and another 1-0 victory for Foster against Renton.

Boys soccer matches were much more competitive, featuring four different draws throughout the week. Chief Sealth and Garfield battled to a 2-2 tie, a scoreline mirrored in matches between Mount Rainier and Auburn-Riverside as well as Tyee and Renton. Defensively, Mount Rainier and West Seattle stood out with 5-0 shutout victories over Kentwood and Cleveland, respectively. Other tight matches included Nathan Hale’s 2-1 win over Ballard and Seattle Prep’s 2-1 victory against the Beavers.
