An hours-long standoff at a Burien apartment complex ended late Friday night after a suspect was taken into custody following a rifle threat investigation.

The incident began around 6:45 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, when deputies with the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) responded to a weapon-related threat in the 12200 block of Ambaum Blvd SW. Victims reported that a known adult male neighbor had threatened them with a rifle earlier that day.

By 8:30 p.m., deputies established probable cause to arrest the suspect. During their initial attempt to make contact, deputies believed the suspect had barricaded himself inside an apartment.

Over the next two and a half hours, deputies evacuated neighboring residents, including families with children, to ensure their safety. A command post was established nearby, surrounding streets were blocked, and a search warrant for the apartment was obtained. KCSO patrol deputies were joined by a variety of specialized units, including the KCSO Tac-30 (SWAT) team, Crisis Negotiators, UAS (Unmanned Aerial System) operators, K-9 teams, and a Medic One team.

The standoff concluded at approximately 11:08 p.m. when the suspect was located and arrested near the scene without incident. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of Assault.

Displaced residents were escorted back to their homes while the investigation at the scene continued. No physical injuries were reported. The investigation remains active and open as deputies and detectives continue to evaluate the scene and collect evidence.
