Candidates for political office are coming to Ballard on Wednesday, Oct. 17 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Sunset Hill Community Association Clubhouse.

The four contested City Council candidate pairings will be first, followed by the two Port Commissioner dyads. Our expected format, subject to change, is to allow each candidate 2-3 minutes for an opening statement, followed by questions posed by the moderator, some of which will be submitted by the audience and members of the SHCA and League of Women Voters. Each candidate will then have 1-2 minnutes to make a closing statement. We anticipate each candidate pairing will take approximately 20-25 minutes.

The candidates include: City Council Position 3, Bruce Harrell and Venus Velasquez; City Council Position 7, David Della and Tim Burgess; City Council Position 1, Jean Godden and Joe Szwaya; City Council Position 9, Sally Clark and Judy Fenton; Port Commissioner Position 2, Bob Edwards and Gael Tarleton; and Port Commissioner Position 5, Alex Fisken and Bill Bryant.
