A. Mildred Carlock

Alice Mildred "Millie" Carlock was born on August 19, 1925 in Granite County, Oklahoma. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt, and friend to many, passed away on Wednesday February 8, 2006 after a short battle with bile duct cancer.

Millie grew up in Oklahoma, Texas, and California. In 1942 she met hr future husband, Donald Carlock, on a cross-county train when she and her mother were moving from Los Vegas to St. Petersburg Florida. Don was in the army and was being transferred from Ojai, California to Fort Benning, Georgia. They married October 28, 1945 after Don returned from Europe (World War II) then moved west to Couer D' Alene, Idaho. After several moves, they settled in Seattle in 1951.

In 1957 Millie started working at Seattle First National Bank, became one of the first bank officers, and retired from banking in 1984. At that time she fully embraced the joys of retirement and often wondered how she ever had time to work.

Millie was an active member of Seaview United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Order of Amaranth, and Green River Depression Glass Club. She loved to read, drink tea, do counted cross-stitch, and visit with family and friends, and travel.

Millie is survived by her husband Donald, daughters Linda Carlock and Gloria Carlock-Hennis, grandson Erik J.C. Anderson and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held February 19, 2006, 3 p.m. at Seaview United Methodist Church, 4620 SW Graham Street, Seattle, Washington, 98136. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Seaview United Methodist Women or Group Health Hospice, 1600 E. John Street, Seattle, Washington, 98112.
