Arthur Lewis "Lewie" (AKA "Lumpy") Dickert, lifetime resident of West Seattle, passed away in his home on Wednesday, March 8th. He had courageously battled a brain tumor for the past five years. Lewie was the son of Arthur and Nelle Dickert. He attended Lafayette Elementary, Madison Junior High and West Seattle High School before joining the service in 1949. Lewie married Millie Lou Graham, also of West Seattle, in 1953. They were together until her death in 1998. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lew and Kristin Dickert, of Mill Creek as well as his sister Edie Anne Pope of Vancouver.

Lewie will always be remembered for his sparkling smile and optimistic outlook on life. He was an active member of West Seattle Presbyterian Church and at one point served as a Deacon for the Congregation. His friends are many and he was always collecting more in whatever circle of golfers or coffee drinkers he joined. Lewie is a faithful member of the West Seattle Indian Alumni Club and the Letterman's Monogram club. He was very proud of the good work those organizations did for the youth of today. Lewie's involvement with youth started long ago. He was involved in West Seattle youth baseball and became president of the West Seattle Pee-Wee and Little League Associations in the late 1960's.

Family, friends and neighbors mourn the loss of Lewie. He was a wonderful father, attentive grandfather to Jenni (21), Drew (20), Matthew and Sophia (9 month old twins), and faithful neighbor. Always there with a ready smile and a helping hand, Lewie gifted those who knew him with his patient, generous spirit and warm personality.

We miss you already, and we plan to celebrate your life on Thursday, March 16th, 11:30 AM, at West Seattle Presbyterian Church on California Avenue. Please join us.

With Love and Appreciation,

Those who knew you
