Tool thieves caught in the act
1. Federal Way officers followed up on a call of suspicious circumstances on the 33300 block of 43rd Avenue Southwest. The caller told police that they spotted a truck and trailer in the area of 4300 Southwest 333rd Place. Officers located the truck and trailer, a 2004 GMC truck with Alaska plates and a 2006 trailer from Alaska, as well as another vehicle-a white 1988 Suburban-at the scene. The officers spotted the theft suspects loading stolen tools from the stolen GMC truck into the Suburban. The police nabbed the three suspects and arrested them.
Man who made bomb threat caught
2. At 34400 33rd Avenue Southwest, Federal Way police cited a suspect for a traffic offense. After running his information through the system, officers determined that Sean D. Vanmeter, the driver of the green 1992 Honda, was wanted for making a bomb threat in Federal Way. Police also confiscated a lock pick from Vanmeter and placed the item into evidence.
Fugitive with knife apprehended
3. On a routine traffic stop at 30600 Pacific Highway South, officers confronted Clayton J. Hickam, the driver of a brown 1984 Chevrolet. When the police ran his information through the system, they discovered that Hickam had an outstanding warrant in Texas. Officers confirmed the warrant and placed Hickam into custody. The police also confiscated a dangerous weapon on Hickam, a butterfly knife, and cited him for carrying a concealed weapon.
Officers involuntarily commit young man
4. Officers arrived at the scene of a domestic disturbance on the 32700 block of 19th Place South. They discovered a young man who was visibily angry and threatening to harm his parents and his mental health counselor. He also threatened to fight with the police. The man knocked over and damaged several small items in the house of his foster parents. The foster mother told officers that the man had ran away from a counseling session at the Seattle Mental Health clinic.
Traffic stop yields wanted man
5. Federal Way officers pulled over a maroon 1998 Ford near 33000 Pacific Highway South. During the stop, officers determined that the passenger was not wearing his seatbelt in the front seat. The man gave officers his brother's name as his identity. Further investigation revealed that the suspect's true identity was Scott Gradel. Gradel had two outstanding warrants in Pierce County and was also a suspect in a hit-and-run accident investigation. Officers confirmed the warrants out on Gradel and took him into custody without incident.
Police send domestic violence citation through mail
6. Officers arrived at the scene of a domestic disturbance on the 3000 block of South 288th Street. At the complex, officers located a woman who was visibly injured from an assault from her husband. The woman had a black eye and complained of abdominal pain. Officers could not locate her abuser at the scene. The victim was transported to St. Francis Hospital for treatment. Because the abuser could not be located, officers sent a citation for Assault 4/DV to the couple's address.
