Could you explain why, in your West Seattle police report, your writer mentions a person's race only when suspects were "black" or "Hispanic?" What purpose do these blunt descriptions serve but to reinforce stereotypes and cause fear in this largely white community? Do fear and division make us secure?
I fear our xenophobic tendencies divert our attention from things much more dangerous - things like police chases proudly described in your new White Center police report. In the name of "safety," do such chases actually save lives?
I also noticed the police writer has a gender bias - there were 10 references to "bad guys" being male. I'm tired of being suspected of being a predator/criminal, just because I'm male, so I can only imagine what it feels like to be black or Hispanic.
You diligently report the symptoms of an ill society and talk about prevention (which apparently means "diverting to easier targets"). Is anyone interested in addressing the roots of our social problems?
