The Des Moines Police Department really needs our help. The officers are currently working mandatory overtime because of the small number of them on the streets. And, we all know what this can do to family life and the extra unneeded stress during working hours.

If the police department does not get needed funding, a lot of the common duties they now perform for our citizens will be drastically cut. Some of the things they are talking about cutting back are calls to residences for burglaries, car break-ins or thefts and car accidents. More officers are needed on the streets

I, for one, am supporting the upcoming Levy Lid Lift measure on the May 16 ballot for increased police funding and urge all other Des Moines citizens to get out and vote to do the same.
