Ora I Bonner

2/16/1914 to 6/3/2006

Passed away peacefully June 3, 2006 in Port Angles after an accidental fall. She was on a car trip to Hurricane Ridge enjoying life right to the end. Born Ora Ione Theisen in Sherwood, ND on February 16, 1914. At seven years old she moved to Seattle and graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1932. She was an athlete throughout her life and in High School was voted Best Senior Girl Athlete. In 1939, she won the Seattle Pairs City Roller Skating Championship. She supported and cheered her children, daughter-in-law, and grandkids in sports and was a fan of the Sonics and Mariners. She loved camping and traveling especially around the Northwest. She also was an avid Square dancer.

She spent her entire life serving others-her family, friends, and the overall community. She volunteered throughout her life: PTA, YMCA and Boy Scouts. She volunteered for over 23 years at Community Home Health Care where in 1994 she received the Washington State Home Care Association of the Year Award as well as the National Home Care Association Volunteer of the Year Award.

Married Ivan R. Bonner June 21, 1941 and made their home in West Seattle. They had 49 years of marriage until he died in 1991.

Ora was a gentle and loving person. Her generosity and caring spirit has touched the lives of many. Her creative, high standards, and individuality were reflected in all she did but especially in her cooking, decorating, and her gifts to other. She made friends easily and had a unique ability of commands with others. Her greatness will remain with all of us who benefited from knowing her. Her sons want to thank her many friends and family for the support, care and love that they have shared over the years with her. Her lovely spirit will remain with all of us she returns to where she began.

Survived by: sons, Gene of Seattle; Chuck (Carolyn) of San Diego; and the light of her life-her Grandchildren; Vanessa (Captain US Army), Brooks and Mariah of San Diego, sister Inez (Bill) Morley of Poulsbo.
