The administration building at Carkeek Park was vandalized on the weekend of July 2nd, causing an estimated three to five thousand dollars of damage.
Vandals broke three sections of fencing and pulled out a support post that was anchored 18 inches into the ground. The post was used to shatter Plexiglas sheets covering a bulletin board. Two round meters, used to measure solar panel electrical output, were damaged and the handles on two electrical inverters were bent and dents were made in the metal boxes.
The Carkeek Park Environmental Learning Center's Education Program Supervisor, Belinda Chin discovered the damage on the morning of June 3 when she came to work.
"I felt bad that somebody would feel that kind of anger to do damage to something," Chin said.
Anyone with information about the crime can call the Carkeek Park Environmental Learning Center at 684-0877.
