The Reign '93 Purple soccer team went to Lake Oswego, Oregon July 21 and came back to Federal Way with the Nike Cup Championship trophy.
To reach the finals, the Federal Way girls had to defeat the defending Oregon State champions in the semi-finals, a 2-1 thriller.
In the championship match against Placer United, Reign took an early one-goal lead, but the Californians came back to tie the score early in the second half.
The Reign girls settled the matter with five minutes remaining, scoring off a corner kick.
Goalkeeper Megan Stumpf tallied 12 saves in the game, a feat which helped preserve the victory the team worked so hard to achieve.
Reign finished the Nike Cup 5-0-0, scoring 10 goals while giving up three. The Nike Cup marks the first tournament championship for the U13 girls' premier soccer team and the team's second tournament finals in a row.
