Social service agencies serving the Burien area will receive $95,000 from the city for their 2007-2008 funding cycle.
The grants were made Oct. 2 by the city council.
Thirty-seven applications for a total of $357,659 in grants were submitted to the city earlier this year for the grant-review process.
In 2005, the council approved dedicating 1 percent of city general fund expenditures annually for human services programs.
Of the $145,000 allocated for 2007-2008, $50,000 already was dedicated for a separate school readiness initiative.
Agencies that will receive funding include:
Catholic Community Services (emergency services), $10,000.
Child Care Resources, $4,000.
