For over 20 years, members of the South King Fire & Rescue Fire Department have helped needy families during the holidays. This year will be no different.
The Foundation will help brighten 100 Des Moines and Federal Way area families this holiday with food and toys.
This community based outreach effort is accomplished with assistance from service clubs like the Des Moines Yacht Club, Des Moines Masons, Greater Federal Way Kiwanis, Federal Way Rotary and Federal Way Lions, which provide volunteers and financial assistance to the effort.
Local area businesses provide donations, in-kind resources or financial assistance.
Federal Way High School and Thomas Jefferson High School students provide help in wrapping the hundreds of gifts that are given to the kids.
The Community Food and Toy Drive volunteers ask for donations of new unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items to assist in the outreach program. Monetary donations are used to purchase perishables items, like cheese and juice, to supplement the groceries for each family
Donations can be dropped off at any South King Fire & Rescue stations that are located throughout the area, including Station 26 at 2238 S. 223rd St. and Station 66 at 27010 15th Ave. S. in Des Moines.
