Pursuit starts in Burien
When Burien police tried to stop a car with a broken taillight on Feb. 28, the driver of the stolen vehicle sped off, eventually leading officers from several departments on a high-speech chase of Highway 99 into Everett.
The three suspects in the car ditched it north of Everett. One suspect was found and arrested.
Dogs kill emus in SeaTac
Two emus-flightless birds that resemble ostriches-were attacked in their yard in SeaTac and killed by roaming dogs on Feb. 25.
The father and a youngster were killed by the dogs, including at least two Great Pyrenees, which are still at large. The mother and another youngster escaped and were rounded up by police and animal control after running into traffic at South 168th Street and 37th Avenue South.
A dozen rabbits also were killed.
Dog left in abandoned van
Burien residents were startled last week to find a dog inside an abandoned van parked at a nearby street corner.
The van with no plates and a flat tire had been there for 10 days when one neighbor looked inside and saw a shorthaired dog.
He came back and gave it food and water.
His wife took the dog from the van and took it home to give it a warm place to sleep.
An animal control officer later checked on the dog and advised her to put it back in the van to avoid being accused of theft.
She refused, and instead the van without the dog was towed away.
