The North Highline Unincorporated Area Council is seeking applicants for an open at-large council position.
The seat became open when King County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Cox, who also was president of the council, was killed in the line of duty in White Center on Dec. 2.
March 8 is the filing deadline. The new member will be appointed by the council at its regular meeting on March 15.
To obtain a Candidate Filing Statement or to learn more about the open position, contact Heidi Johnson at 206-931-0849, or visit the council's Web site at: www.northhighlineuac.org.

The council is comprised of 13 members representing Beverly Park, Boulevard Park, Glendale, Riverton Heights, Salmon Creek, Shorewood, South Park, Top Hat and White Center.
This unincorporated area is divided into four districts with two representatives from each district. The five remaining council members serve as at-large representatives of the community.
One council member from each of the four council districts and two at-large positions will be elected.
Candidates for district positions must reside within the district in which they are running.
The at-large positions are open to any resident, business owner or employee of a non-profit organization in North Highline.
Candidates must be 18 or older.
Each position is a two-year term and requires attendance at two council meetings a month.

Anyone interested in serving the North Highline community by serving on the council must submit an application prior to the election.
