Snipping and snapping

On 46th SW, neighbors called 911 when a fire broke out in the porch laundry room of a nearby home. (Fire investigators found an exploded aerosol can inside the dryer as well as a burnt towel on the kitchen stove.) The older woman who lives there had just been outside in her bathrobe clipping bushes - and also clipping a neighbor's phone line with the shears. (Later that day, a second neighbor discovered his phones lines had been cut, and a third found his TV cable sliced through.) She couldn't remember her own name and didn't know what had happened. She was transported to Harborview for an involuntary mental health examination.
Someone broke into a man's car while he was eating brunch at Salty's on Saturday morning and stole $1,800 worth of items, including a laptop computer and a camera. In the 7700 block of 32nd, a thief stole $1,000 worth of tools from a vehicle. In this case, the victim thinks he forgot to lock the car and set the alarm after coming home from a bar the previous night.
A real estate agent interrupted a burglary at an Admiral-area home Monday afternoon. Though she did not see the suspects, a number of computers and other items had been placed into backpacks and left behind, and a small window had been used to gain entry. An agent notes that two young males had come to an "open house" at the home in February and were memorable and suspicious because of their young age and appearance. They were driving a late-model Cadillac. The suspects remain at large.
Officers arrived at Delridge Community Center to deal with an argumentative man who disturbed patrons and walked onto the court during a youth basketball game. A computer check showed that the man was under Department of Corrections supervision. By not complying with orders to stay on his mental health medications, he was in violation of his terms of release and, therefore, booked into King County Jail.
Turned away at her client's door, a King County Mental Health Professional contacted 911, concerned that the man - who has a history of weapons and threats toward officers - was not following the conditions of his mental health directives. Officers were eventually able to gain access to the man's home. It was determined that he was a possible danger to himself and neighbors, and he was transported to Harborview for mental treatment.
At a bus stop at Roxbury and 27th, a stranger walked up to a man who was taking some pills, grabbed the man's bag of medicine and ran off.
Unknown persons are responsible for ongoing damage to playground equipment in the yard of an Arbor Heights church. In the most recent incident, wood panels were pried off of a playhouse, causing $50 damage.
Near Sealth and Denny schools recently, several young people have been the victim of a strong-arm robber(s) who steals their IPods.
