In cross country, the Ballard Beavers boys as a team, have qualified for state with a third place finish at the 4A District II/IV Championships at Lake Sammamish Park on Oct. 27.
The team scored 100 points. Redmond, 52 and Bothell 72 were first and second respectively. Eastlake was fourth at 117.
The Beavers were lead by Alex Barkley in eighth place individually. His time was 16.33. Luke McClure's 15th place was earned with at time of 16.36. The top 20 boys automatically make state.
The girls team narrowly missed out on state. They were in fifth place with 130. Eastlake was tops at 53, then Redmond at 59. Woodinville at 88 and Roosevelt 59, all placed ahead of Ballard.
The highlight of the day was Ballard's Bridget Berg second place with at time of 18.23.
Soccer wraps up
The Ballard Beavers girls soccer team concluded its season on Oct. 24 with a 1-0 loss to Roosevelt. The team had a 3-4-3 KingCo record and was 6-5-4 overall.
During the season they beat Juanita twice, Bothell twice, Redmond and Franklin once each.
The tie games hurt the team's playoff chances late in the season schedule.
Individually, Mikaela Winter lead the team with ten goals and four assists. Sara Ives was not far behind with eight goals and six assists.
Lucy Miner also had a good season, scoring five goals and contributing six assists. Sydney Huggins had three points.
Lauren Ives, Britta Humes and Sophie King each had two goals. Goalkeeper Humes had five shutouts.
Ballard finished in fourth place in the KingCo Mountain Division. Redmond, Woodinville and Roosevelt were the top teams in the division. Eastlake from the Lake Division was undefeated.
